I was doing my water change as I usually do. Took her out of the tank with the cup and set her on the bathroom counter. I rinsed out the tank, filled it with fresh water, and as I was draining water out of the cup, I was useing an old CD to cover the cup. Well, I guess the space that I left to drain the water out was a little too big cause she slipped right out, and right down the drain. What happened next? I went tearing out of the bathroom and all over the house to find a screw driver so I could take the drain trap apart. Well, I found a screw driver, got the trap apart, and dumped it into a bowl with some fresh treated water, and Thank God, out she came. I netted her out of there, and put her back into her tank. She is looking like she is doing well for what she went through. No visible damage, and no stress lines, so I think she will be ok. I will just have to keep an eye on her for the next couple days. Lucky, lucky girl.

That was one hack of a rescue operation, AlexsDaddy.

Thank goodness she's safe,

Kudos to you :flex: Way to keep your cool in that situation and I'm sure your fish thanks you as well

Thanks guys. My first reaction when I saw her go down the drain was that I lost her for good, but luckly I've done some plumbing work, so I knew that if the drain system was put together right, there would be water in the trap, but not after the trap so she should be in there. Luckly it was, and she was.

I guess she will be fine. I am sure every betta enjoys an adventure every now and than.

One day she will be telling her kids, and I entered the big dark cave... :D

Nice rescue

maybe her name should be drain-o....
LOL! Thanks. I needed a little cheering up. My grandmother has been in the hospital for the last week and a half, and I just got word tonight that she may not make it through the night. And here I am 500 miles away, at 11:00 at night. I wish I could be there, but there is no way that I would be able to make that trip by myself after being up since 5 am.....

Great rescue operation! I've nearly had my bettas go down the drain once or twice, but luckily they managed to remain in the sink

Also wishes for your Grandmother.
Well as i can say, let it be a lesson, close the drain while doing water changes.
Glad to hear she was saved. :)

Oooh scarey water change but fantastic rescue! :flex:

Thoughts and prayers to your Grandmother. It must be so hard being so far away from her :(
