I woke up this morning and checked my tanks as usual and noticed my Lima Shovelnose's belly was looking very fat. I hadn't put any food in the tank last night so I wondered what he had eaten.
Then I noticed I seemed to only have 2 Silver Sharks left!! Greedy B****** had eaten one of them. Funny thing is they are nearly 5" long!!! Oh well, may have to take these guys back and replace them with Silver Dollars instead; Sid's less likely to eat them!!!

OOOPS!! Sorry to hear that mate, usually fish over 4" are safe with limas but i guess the bala was a little too slim in profile to avoid being swallowed. Some large silver dollars would be a safer option (for the fish) or prehaps you could get some much larger balas, i am always seeing 8"+ balas that have been returned in the sump tanks of my local stores.

Yeah, I see them too, but my tight fisted LFS wants £30 each for them!!!! I think it was also probably due to the fact I hadn't put any shrimp/mussel/cockel in the tank for a day or two and he just doesn't eat any pellets that I put in. Probably my fault as well!!!
Poor Bala, but I had to laugh at the size of his belly this morning!!!! :D
