I've just been delivered some fish from people who are moving and can't take their fish. A rainbow shark, blue gourami, three cories and an oto.
They arrived in white buckets, but the water is yellow, so I just tested it and the nitrAte test tube immediately turned a deep red. How do I safely acclimate these fish? I guess I should keep the water that's in their buckets, and drip acclimate some clean tank water into their containers before moving them to the quarantine tank, then gradually do small water changes daily, like in cases of old tank syndrome? Just a bit concerned about swinging them into water that's too clean too fast, given I only have a few gallons of the their high nitrate water.
