I need advice on an old tank I inherited from my Dad. The tank is 19 years old and has never had any problems with leaks. It is of the older variety that didn't use any center bracing and as such the tank has a considerable bow when filled with water. I tore it down yesterday and moved it to my place and noticed during moving that algae growth was visible under the silicon of the corner seams. I am a bit worried that this could cause me problems when I go to fill it up again. Is this something I should address or should I not worry about it since the tank has been in constant use for the last decade with no problems. This is an added concern as the tank will be on the second floor of my home and any water damage would be considerable.

Thanks,
Carl

It may be ok leak wise but personally i would razor blade the silicone off the inside and re do it, i would also add in a centre brace.
It will look better and be safer as you say a leak would be a serious problem.
Better to be safe than sorry

I agree with Snowman. Remove all the silicone , re-seal it and add a central brace bar. Leave for at least 4-5 days before putting water in, and fill in 2-3 stages, with a couple of hours between each.

You need to fix that. I think just buying a brace that will fit nice and tight'll work, but I'm not sure.
YOU DONT, however, want to set up the tank with that bow. It will break, and you will have, 150 Gallons of water on your floor.
