My neon tetra isn't interested in his food anymore... he doesn't eat it right away in the morning and when I feed him in the evening, (which has been kinda late lately) he's sleeping... Just wondering if somethings wrong. The food isn't over 6 months old either. :/

Could be many things. Has anything changed in your tank recently, have you added anything, taken anything away? Is your water quality okay, Neons are somewhat sensitive to nitrogen pollution? You say your Neon Tetra, makes me wonder if you just have 1 - they are a shoaling fish which should really be kept in groups or 5 or more.

Well I added a fake plant a few days ago, but that didn't change anything really. Then, we relocated my fish upstairs to my bedroom. He was eating for like... oh i dont know the first day but now he doesn't. He acts kinda afraid of me (always has been) but now he seems more afraid. My tank is a bit small to have 5 neon tetras though... and I don't want to stress feeding all those fish... it seems hard to me. He was always fine alone. LOL Also he did have a buddy (a different kind of tetra) and it was much rowdier than him. maybe an 8th of an inch bigger too. yellowish. I have no clue what kind of fish it was lol but the guy said they could go together. but that fish died cuz it wasnt eating. :shifty:  :dunno: Its name was tipsy lmao

Could be the re-location has stressed it. They are a sensitive species.

 Yeah I think the same happened to me before, when I got a fish batch as soon as I got my fish tank

All the fish went well; the tiger barbs didn't bully my 2 neon tetras. :/

After 2 days, my neon tetras stopped eating. It might of been that they were chasing each other. A day later, my neon tetras stopped eating as I watched the fish eat.

Then, I went skiing early in the morning the next day for 2 and a half days. When I came back, all my fish died including my neon tetras except for my 2 golden tiger barbs :-(

Could of been neon tetra diesease when the neon tetra's starved to death?

:dunno: :X

Poor fish... I wish they were just smart. Then I noticed this stringy brown/red little stuff at the gravel of the tank... Is that fish... bowel movement items? lol Honestly I'd like to know.

It probly is fishy poops. Like lateral line said. those fish, i think, especially neons, are supposed to be kept in groups. Maybe even 1 other neon might be nice for him?? up to you I spose.

Schooling fish school to provide protection in the wild, and in a tank, it provides their security = happiness. I think with a neon, and those other little fishies, being so small, they especially would need their security of a group.
How big is your tank. Surely it can't be too small for 2 or 3 neons. Is it a jam jar  sorry. it's late. i'm tired. just being a smart ass. don't take it personally.
seriously, I think your neon would be happier with friends of his own species, they don't school with other species, no matter how similar they are.

Okay, thanks! The tank could fit about three if they wanted nice equal space. I'm just afraid of the diseases and stuff... u know when a new fish goes into the tank. I'll go to the LPS today.

News:My neon started eating on his own again! Such a miracle fish. He always eats at the last minute.

The LPS didn't have any neons so now I have to go to petsmart! Oh how po'ed I was. lol

Thanx 4 ur help ppl!
