So yesterday, my crowntails spawned and everything went by the book. This morning, I peeked in the breeding tank and Heist is under where the nest used to be. The nest is gone and the eggs are floating randomly across the top of the tank.
Why would this happen? What do I do know? Thanks for all the help.

That happens sometimes, lazy male  , the eggs should be hatching any time now, right?

Do they look fertilized? Could be a fungus too if he's not cleaning them.

If they start to hatch he should blow them back up into bubbles and rebuild the nest (go tell him that in case he doesn't know  ). Sometimes there's no nest at all and the babies just stick to the surface.

Thanks wuv! I just saw you were in this room and I thought "Thank God!" Some are still in bubbles but the vast majority are just hanging around. They should be hatching by this afternoon, so I guess I'll just wait it out. What a dork.

Don't worry, if it's a no-go you can always try again  But he may surprise you :flex:

Alright, so now there are maybe ten bubbles left, and he is laying on the bottom of the tank breathing heavily. I am so lost...maybe my gay betta decided he can no longer go on living a heterosexual lie -_-

i had a male one time that didnt care too much about the nest. he let it go to **** and all the fry died :-(

awwww :/ but still,LMAO@ his heterosexual lie  Ohhh, tooo funny :p

It happens, some are crappy parents :dunno: I had to remove my ED from the breeder last night :/ he looked like he'd been to hell and back and I could foresee him going crazy. It was obvious that he had no desire to be in there. Now I have fry hatching with no daddy :(

I'd go ahead and remove him after the fry start hatching IF he shows no interest. He may just be taking a breather before the REAL work starts.

I just pulled him and put him back in his own tank. He was all the way on his side and he had eaten most of his eggs. There's still five eggs on the top, and a few on the bottom. I guess this one wan't meant to be. :dunno:

No, but I haven't done it in like 5 or 6 years so I'm rusty. I don't think I did anything wrong though, just wasn't his thing I guess. :dunno:

my first didnt go well either... the eggs werent fertlized or something

maybe youll have better luck with a different male
