Ok all, I have been keeping my fish for about a month and a half...maybe 2 months. I want to specialize in guppies, because they are easy to breed, and they are fairly hardy from my experiences so far. Another reason is because of the beautiful colors they can come in. Does anybody have any advice? I still plan on keeping my community tank, but I want to put mostly guppies in it. Anybody have any advice or any input? I don't know if this is really my best go for right now, being that I'm relatively new to the fish thing. I have learned from experience that I don't want to JUMP into something, that is why I am posting this topic and asking for everyone's opinions prior to doing it.

Advice I'm looking for:

1) tank capacity recommended
2) How many of each gender
3) Special considerations to make/equipment to buy
4) downsides of what I want to do
5) ways to get around the downsides
6) and any other advice you think would be pertinent...

Thanks a bunch, and hopefully I will soon be known as the guppy expert!!

Some of your questions can be answered Here
Tank size dependant on how many you wish to acquire.
Usually 2 females per male is good.
Main consideration is do you wish to breed a specific type or just have lots of great looking guppies on display. If you choose to breed you will need tank(s) to raise the fry.
Downsides of breeding guppies is it could end up costing a fair dollar for tanks or breeding stock.
HTH :)
