Well considering I downsized on tanks, I have just brought this beauty:
http://www.aquarist-classifieds.co.uk/php/detail59_176510.php

Which came with loads of stuff including a protein skimmer, etc. So the question is I brought this with the intention of Figure 8 puffers but then as I have boringly brought up a while back Alex loves marine..this could be the opportunity, considering we have a RO unit as well sitting about. I need a little help in deciding, should we..

Either
1) Start the salty side with a couple of figure 8 puffers though this would mean no marine tank for a long time..
OR
2) Go for it to the complete salty side. I will say my love is puffers so would love some sort of toby or perhaps a valentini, how would this 110-120litre do with such a puffer and what other inhabitants would be good? Of course I need to read up, but a heads up would be great.

I guess my main concerns are taking the initial step and how hard marine tanks are to look after. Also does it add a great deal to the electricity? I have a huge box with bits and pieces in so now need to figure out what is the filter, skimmer and other.. A new tank so exciting.

For a main checklist still to get:
Refractometer
Marine Salt Mix
More coral sand
Live Rock
Fish

Thanks and sorry for the ramblings, I know I have been down this road before but we seem closer without realising it.

Its got to be done, you know it has

The tank would hold a valentini or other small toby :good:

It really would very rude not to start one now that you have a skimmer and ro unit :fun:

Oh Seffie, you are so right and when I told Alex what you said, he agrees! :good: We figure we can but try and if it is way over our heads, take the fish back and take the tank down to brackish.

To add to that list would be a test kit as well.

I think we are set...so I know tobies of any kind dont do well with corals so it would FOWLR. With marine fish we have no ideas of stocking, what other fish and perhaps crustaceans would be good with a toby if mixable?

Thanks for the quick replies. xxxx

You can keep a valentini with corals - they are the least likely to nip at corals :good:

With the light you will have you could keep some softies, zoas, mushrooms and a wee toadstool :kana:

May I also suggest looking at a leopard toby. I believe they stay the smallest of the tobies... I had one for a while, never saw him touch a coral or invert.

i got my 4x2x2 with sump
free to a good home and
it comes with live sand as
well

i will take it! 100%!!!!
