Ok, they were fine yesterday and the day before and so forth, but not until one hour ago, my red tail black shark started attacking, my swordtail female, which she aint in good shape because of my CAE and my leapod platy, why has he got like this suddenly, and what can i do about it, becuase if it carries on i will have to put the shark in the same tank with the CAE, if i have to do it, i have a question for that, are Red tail sharks more senstive or less senstive to water conditions than Neon?

:(

Red Tailed Sharks are probably a little less sensitive about water than Neons, but obviously, neither will thrive in poor conditions.

Red tails are a notoriously cranky fish. Some become really bad tempered as they get older, others become mild giants, not predictable. If he has suddenly taken a dislike to his long term tank mates, it doesn't bode well.

That said, I think he'll have a fit if he sees the CAE, and vice versa, that could be another recipe for trouble.

Are those the only options?

He can either stay in the tank he is in now, but i dont want to lose any of those fish in there, because they are all so peaceful and a good community, or go with the agae eater, and yes they dont get along either, i dont have anywhere else to put him, i WILL not do what my mother suggested and that was to flush him down the toilet, because that is so wrong on so many levels, and he is one of my most prized fish so i dont really want to take him back to the fish store... Maybe i should try and get a bigger tank, but i dont see what use that would do :(

:grr:  Slap her about a bit!!! Or flush her down the toilet and use the insurance to buy a new tank!!! J/K ;)

lmho.... Good point, when my leapod platy was voilent i put him a special net for aggressive fish, and now look at him, he is harmless, and she had said to flush him down the toiloet as well, see what alot of love and care does for a fish, but i dont know whats up with this shark, maybe i should treat him to some veggi's, because i hear they like that, is that true?

-_-

most sharks love anything edible,
you can give him veggi's as a treat,
but that will put him into a feeding frenzy (yet another reason for him to attack your other fish)
judging by what you have said, you really have nowhere else to put him
so be honest to yourself,
can you afford to buy him his own tank (at least a 20 gallon just for him)
if you can't say 100% yes,
then do him and your fish a favor and give him back to the store
99.9% of the time they will not calm back down,
they need alot of space or their own tank
i know its hard when these things happen but i can tell you really love him and only want whats best,
do it for him
good luck

Thankyou for your concern, it means alot to me, i did just try to put him in the tank with the CAE, they were ok, but i think he really didnt like it, he started going all flimsey, and started swimming backwards throughout the tnk, looking for more areas to go, sadly there wasnt, and i could tell he was dieing, so i ammediatly took him out and have him ready to go back in the big tank, hoping that he has got a propsective, if not, i will put my female swordtail in a bag while i go to sleep and go to college, because i know she will be fine, and then tomorrow i will sort something out, i could either give him to my nextdoor neighbour who is willing to have him, and they have a much bigger tank, with a few different spieces in, or take him back :byebye:

I really do love that fish and i dont want to lose hiim, but i may have no choice...

What i dont get, i try and get the fish i really like, and then they end up not getting along with the rest of the community, i dont likethe look of most of the tropical fish, just a select few :( Like Betta, they wont get along with Neons, Red finned sharks, Red tail black sharks, Chinese algae eaters, and proper cat fish, cant remember their names...

I cant get what i want, and probably get aload of fish i dont like, and the answer to me having enough money to get a bigger fish tank, i have a brother with a bigger fish tank and he wants to get rid of it, but i aint sure he want to give it to me, and then i have alot to buy in the next couple of weeks...

:(

I think i found out what the problem was, you see you told me about the red tail black shark goeson a feeding friendsy when you treat him, well just before he started attack the others, my mother fed the fish, now normally i feed the fish and i am guessing he went on a feeding friendsy, because i put him back in the tank, for one more chance, and he was fine with the other fish, so now i am going to watch his food now...

;)

Oh yeah about your mom fill her bedroom half up with water and put 15 fully matured and VERY hungry bala sharks in the room LOL        :D :D

Oh no, my shark is at it again, i have had to give it to my nextdoor neighbour :(, he seems happier now, and what they told me is that i can see him on a regular basis if i like...

I am really, really, really, going to miss him
