Oh No! My Snail Had Babies!

i got a golden mystery snail, just one, in hopes that it would be the only one. and tonight, ive noticed several babies. .. a local pet store said they would take the ones i don't want.. but could it get outta hand? lol

Well, it could My grandparents tank were over taken by snails. They just kept breeding.

If you get a loach or two, they will eat them. Perhaps take out the one you want to keep and put it back once the others are eaten, but then you would have to get rid of the loach so it doesn't eat the snail you kept !

it is not good to buy fish just to eat snails, especially if the tank is not big enough, i have only really heard f pest snails becoming over run but don't know much on mystery snails. good luck

..... i agree! and i've got a couple of options.. petco said they would take them.. and i have a friend that has loaches, and she said that she would take the ones i didn't want! .. i just don't want it to get so outta control that i have to get rid of em all together,, i really like them, i wanna keep a few around, but i know if i keep a few they will always keep reproducing.. and if they reproduce to fast to be a snack for my friend, and petco can take them off my hands,,,, they might have to go!

You could get some assassin snails. They'll only eat snails which are smaller than them so should leave the adults alone.

sooo im kinda sad about it, but i just decided to save myself the trouble and i just got rid of them all. i'll only get a snail again if i KNOW its the only one!
