Oh my god i was looking for my baby cory and couldnt find him. Then i looked into the bottom of a pot i have and he was stuck half in and half out of a hole in the bottome of the pot. Wegd himself in there good. He was struggling to get out and i didnt think he make it so i lifed up the pot and tryed to slowly push him the rest of the way out. Well he finally poped out and took off under a plant. He is still sitting there under the same plant. I hope he is ok??
Does anyeone know if he learned his lession. He wont try to do that again. Thank god i looked for him.

I would take the pot out of the tank for now, so it won't happen again, just keep an eye on him, as he any scratches on him through being stuck, if so maybe add abit of melafix to the tank, good luck..

I cant see any scratches on him but he is staying away from the pot.

put some melafix to the tank and turn the lights off so he can recover.Never put corys in a salt bath though!you probly already new that but ya never no!

Thanks he or she is doing fine, swimming around the bottome of the tank. Likes to hid under plants.

Glad to hear that.

Hi Cheart99 :)

You and your little cory certainly had a nasty surprise, didn't you?

I would take the pot out of the tank, or at least turn it so he cannot get stuck in there again. Once he has grown you could replace it.

He will probably forget about his problem long before you do. :D

Yah he or she (how do you tell the genders appart??) is doing better. It is swimming around the tank, im assuming looking for food. Still hasent touched the alge disks i bought him. Gave me a good scare when he got stuck.

Hi Cheart99 :)

The way to tell the genders of corys is to view them from above. If they are mature, the difference is sometimes obvious, but not always.

The female will usually be larger--both longer and wider. She will appear chunky while the male will look slender. If they are young, it's harder to tell.

When I buy corys, whenever possible I like to get a total of six, 3 of them males and 3 females. I usually look for the 3 biggest ones in the tank; they will most usually be females. Then I look for that are skinny in comparison. These are not necessarily the smallest ones, because they could be runts. But they will be narrow bodied compared to the females. Even if they are still young, I usually get them right that way.

Another way to tell is by looking at their ventral fins. The females' fins are larger and round while the males' are small and pointed. It's harder to tell by this though, because they spend a lot of time sitting on them. :D

i was going to search for my old thread to show you i had the EXACT same thing happen to me but the search isnt working  , i had to pull my cory out but i took teh pot out afterwards, my cory that got stuck was in shock for teh rest of the night but bounced back the next day and is back to normal now, this happened a couple months ago though
