I have just been to a very good lfs near me, and they have baby arrowanas so young they still have their yolk sacs... sooooo cute ! he said they were imported but guess they cant be chipped or anything yet as they were only about 2 inches long !

They were probably silver arowana, they dont need to chipped, if you were lucky they are black arowana and if they are please tell me where you are :)
Buying an arowana with the yolk sac still attached is not a good bet, there is a lot of die off at a small size and you may be disappointed, it is best to get them at a size of 6" or above as they will be a lot more robust

So saying my silver was bought at around 3" and he is now approx 14" but he did take quite a while to start feeding properly.

oh my tank is nowhere near big enough, couldn't believe they import such small babies, pretty sure they were silver - they were silver in colour and just labelled arowana amazing something so small get so big so fast !

My LFS is great they have: african butterfly fish, asian aros, silver aros, flag tails, loads of polypterus', pure strain endlers, hundreds of L no. plecs, elephant fish, badis badis, killifish, stingrays....

im in buckinghamshire BTW ;)

I'd say they probably have some good stuff at Britains Aquatic Superstore in Bolton, but I wouldn't want to risk the long journey since they don't keep a stocklist online.

This is from their website ' The tropical fish department is one of the biggest in England with over 400 stock tanks boasting some rare species imported by our experts. '

i buy most my fish from the britains aquatic superstore its fantastic
where about are you, you could get away with buying from there i know somebody who went for a day out to blackpool about 2 and a half hours from his house and came home with a new oscar

im in maidstone in Kent , we have a couple of quite good ones here.. they have sea horses in the one where the baby aros are... so pretty!
