I got myself a Hydor inline heater, thinking it would work with my Eheim 2234 external filter, but the !@#$% lines are too small! I thought the heater would fit my 12/16 hose, but apparently the 16 needs to be the inside diameter, not outside.

So ... which filter would y'all recommend I get? I still have one HOB filter on my 29g that I'd be happy to switch out with a canister, but which canister sports a 16mm ID hose?

Any help appreciated.

I'm such a maroon sometimes.

I'd go to my local hardware store, get about a foot of 16mm I.D. tubing, and a couple small hose clamps. Cut the 12mm line. cut the 16mm in half, slide it over the 12mm, clamp it.

That should do it, huh? I thought about that but didn't know if I'd compromise the tubing's integrity. Thanks, Tolak!

If the fit is tight you can heat the tubing, a lighter works well, a candle, anything that will heat it to soften it. I've rigged new tubing on a 2222 & 2224, thicker walled than the original Eheim tubing, doesn't kink but requires a little clamp work. I've done this with pumps, powerheads, filters, tank overflows, I've got an assortment of short pieces around to make things fit.

Well, there's my project for tomorrow!
