I have a fancy GF with swim bladder disease, again. Silly thing will not stop gulping air when I walk by tank thinking it will be feed. (and yes I feed sinking foods) I noticed its fins where getting a little ragged also so I put it in the 5 gal hospital tank I have. My house is cold so I got a new heater and put it in just to give it a little help along with the salt. I was called away for a couple hours and came home to a 95f fish tank! I know better then to walk away from a new heater, I feel just sick. I did a small water change just to drop the water a little and removed the heater. Its been a couple hours and the water is down to 76f. Poor fishie first he is upside down then I try to cook him!
BTW there is a large air circle going in there and it is a fully cycled tank.

For my goldies I had to raise the tank height so they were looking down at me rather than me looking down on them and it worked. Hell of a job with water changes though, involving a chair and a table.

That is not a bad idea. The stand in my sons room is really tall, home made it brings the tank to eye level. Capt (the GF with issues) never had this problem when in that tank, but the others picked on him all the time. It is a fast moving tank with 2 HOB's and the GF in there spend most of the day playing tag. His problems started when I brought him into the dinning room tank with a couple moors that do not move much. It is a lower tank (store bought stand) I had never thought of that correltion of tank hights. Thanks!
The GF is still with us, still upside down. Hopefully yesterdays heat bath did not hurt him.

Hopefully with no food and then the peas that might help him regain his balance eventually.

can you tell me how you notice your fish has swim bladder-----my fish is always making bubbles ;he also thinks when you have a look at him you are going to feed him

RIP poor little fishy. I came home from a day long trip and the GF had passed. My son was heart broke.

One of the main was to tell this problem is the fish is having trouble swimming right side up.Some one else will tell you more, I am having trouble posting right now.

Im sorry Shelly you lost him, must have been something more than just his swimbladder.

A fish, especially the fat bodied type that isnt swimming normally. They can either float on their back, side or even stay upright but not able to swim down or they can just sit on the gravel and not swim upwards.

I am sorry to hear of the passing of your GF. If you do have anymore fish with swimbladder disease i alaways foun a change in diet is a good idea. I change the diet of my fish to GOLD health food and they perked up.

Nope all the other GF are healthy cheep Wall Mart buys. I payed way to much for that GF that died from a breeder. Never again.

:( Sorry you lost your fancy fish :( My fish can swim around ,up ,down etc fine,I just think he is a real show off!!! so he does the side stroke ( swim past) He is a lion head thingy???? Think that's what he is called ( he has a hat on :D ) Don't be too upset, keep your spirits up R.I.P little fish

I hate it when they die but at least you tried to help him. It is worse if they just die for no reason like my betta did a couple of weeks ago.
My fancy telescopic has that fungus thingy but when I treat him he looks awful wont eat gets really stressed. So he has his own personal hospital quarters and as long as he is eating and looking happy I am going to leave the medication off.
