Hi guys i have just started to keep fish and was wondering are these as bad as tiger barbs? For example if you have got a 4ft tank would these be ok with most fish such as guppys congo tetras neons if you have a group of 6 or 8 ? Thanks for reading

Iv kept Odessa barbs before in a 4 foot tank (jewel vision 260) and had no issues. I had a group of 8 odessa's with cherry barbs, a BN plec and 3 dwarf gourami. Iv also never come across anywhere near as many cases of nippy Odessa's compared to tiger barb cases. Tiger barbs are notorious for nipping. Now this doesn't mean they definitely won't nip at other fish' fins but its not as likely as it would be with tiger barbs.

They're nowhere near as bad as Tiger Barbs. In my experience, they can be a bit rough while they workout a pecking order (for the first few days, roughly), but after that they're very peaceful. I wouldn't put them in with stuff that has overly long fins, but they're generally fine.

Generally peaceful with others and each other, though I wouldn't tempt them with things like angels, guppies or Bettas.

Thanks guys for the replies still want to get them but sounds like a 50 50 chance that they might with the guppys :-(
