a really nice african odball community could be as small as 35gallons. :good: this could have a senegal birchir and an african butterfly fish, and 6 congo tetras :D

or you can have a large african one of about 80gal, with a few bichirs, ropefish, african butterfly fish, african knife fish, pair of kribs, synodontis  :hyper:

id go the other way and get a good size one, if you get a small one now, you will within a period of time, want a bigger tank to put more critters in

i'd start of with >100 gallons. gives you (almost) all the space you need to house really stunning oddballs

kirbs and congo tetras would eventually become a nice snack for the bichir...Also, having a few bichirs in an 80 gallon would not be a good idea in either sense. These are very messy fish, and even though they may have enough room, you would need a pretty hefty filtration system.

my 10" delhezi gets on fine with my congo tetras. :/

Also, by "a few bichirs" i meant 1-2 senegals. :p

cool cool, jus plotting ideas for a new tank that might be started in a few months
theres some good ideas, space wise i think the biggest i can go is 50 gallons (uk)
