Hi All,

I have what was sold as a trapdoor snail in my tank (and it looks like one from the pics I;ve matched it to.

It's done 'OK' in my tank, though its not been as active as any of my other snails ( including the apple snail thats been in there 3 days now).

Basically its fairly lethargic, and i think most active at night (because I tend to spot it somewhere different each morning). I leave cucumber in the tank over night, and there are edible plants in the tank/fish food from evening feed, so plenty of food so long as its seeding.

There is quite strong flow in the tank (from 2 HOB filters) and a good air space below the tank cover.

Temperature is 22'C (previously it was room temp.... this may be a factor), though I did some research before hand and it seems well within range...?

ANYWAY: the behaviour, today he fell off the side glass (small fall) onto the sand and landed on his back, he just sort of plopped his body out and let it wave around in the flow, not even that bothered by whiteclouds swimming around it. I waited for 20min, and then conducted my usual tank maintainance (10% water change, top up with fresh, same temp dechlorinated water), he still didn't move.

Eventually, I had to try the 'gently' poke him with the blunt end of a wooden skewer, and immediatly he shut his opperculum...

Just so I can observe him (can risk a mid-sized snail dying/rotting in that tank!) i carefully flipped him right way up and brought him nearer the front of the tank...

What do you guys think? is he sickly? or is the new 2-3'C higher temp a factor?

Thanks for reading!

#41#### thing still acting very oddly, really not sure what to do?

Its not mover from where it was left, but is now on its side again, part of body out of shell making 'breathing' type motions...

I don't want to bug it, I'll give it another day...
