Firstly I apologise for no photo, no matter how hard I beat the darn thing on the counter it wont work. (the camera not the pleco lol).

I picked up a nice cheap tank today because as usual it had inhabitants, the one being a lovely little 3" gibby by the look, however the other about 4-5" looks like a common fin structure, but he/she is muddy brown on the body, no spots, patches anything solid brown, his fins have a few faint patches/spots, but the most amazing thing is his dorsal fin on the top, tail edges and tips of pectoral fins are bright bright orange, like a golden nugget is yellow but orange, tango orange!!

Unfortunately I have set the temporary tank up right next to the pc and he just keeps looking at me with those dreamy pleco eyes, and I keep hearing "go on keep me, I know you want to".

its probably quite unlikely but maybe a L024

or even a L025 red finned cactus pleco

oh man if you got an L24 out of a "lucky dip" situation you would be amazingly lucky they are pretty expensive. There are actually a few species called the orange seam pleco the L numbers are L106 and & L076. If its quite bright the L106 usually show the brightest seams from the photos ive seen http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/image.php?species=hemiancistrus+guahiborum&image_id=8239

ooo the other thing I can think of is the orange cheek plec - http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/species.php?species_id=202 - if it is I am uberly jealous as they are one of my favs!! Pretty rare as well

Thanks for those Bae. Wills done panic hun although it looks very much like the L024 the first spine on the dorsal ray is brown. I dont think it is anything special just a really oddly coloured young common. Have put batteries on charge again and will try to get a pic, it will not be great because I get about 10 seconds with my camera before it packs up.

A pic would be best star but it sounds just like a varied coloured common, ive seen quite a few with considerable difference in colour and markings.

Sorry guys, camera just useless, I may see if I can borrow one. I am sure he is a commong just really beautifully marked.
