Hi ratts...sounds like you are starting to come down with the symptoms that lead to MTS (multi tank syndrome)....we now have 6 tanks up and running because most of the fish we started out with didn't get along and had to be seperated.
Puffers are a great fish IMO, the Dwarfs are too aggressive for a community tank, but I'm finding that the South American puffers are more sociable (and only get to about 3 inches). There are quite a few different FW puffers available in the lfs in my area, as well as some of the Brackish water ones (Figure 8's, Green Spotted). If you are looking for a larger variety that can work in a community tank you might look at the Spotted Congo Puffer (Tetraodon shoutedeni) , a lot of lfs confuse them with Green Spotted as they look a lot alike, I believe than can get up to 5 inches and are supposed to have a peaceful personality (for Puffers)

Check out Pufferfish Uk for some quick info on different puffers.

Gobi dragons - oddballs that get along fine in a community tank. The look like an eel, but are a scaled fish. A lot of people think they're predators, but because their eyesight is so bad (they rely on sense of smell to find their food) other fish have plenty of time to run (or rather swim) away. I have 2 for quite some time now and they have never harmed any of their tankmates and that includes any fry that happen to pass by them. One of mine is best friends with one of the cory's - they shack up together under the bogwood :) Highly recommended as an oddball community fish :D
