Hi, i was offered 25kilo of ocean rock for £40 so i bought it. I have it sitting in boiling water now readfy for entry tomorrow. My question is, is this a good idea to put it in. I have a decent bit of live rock in there now with good life on it and I seem to find something new almost daily now (latest was a hairy crab I seen when I first started the tank over 2 months ago but never seen again till last night). Will the ocean rock seed quickly as I have some very nice pieces that I think is goint to look good at least, thx in advance.

TBH Ocean Rock will not offer decent filtration & it will also displace more water as it is mush denser than LR

There is also thoughts that it may leach nitrates back into the tank after years of use

If it were my tank I wouldnt add it
Have a look at this recent Live Rock post

Thx for the replies. The boiling is because it was very dusty, cold water would probably suffice, just wanted to make sure it was properly clean.

P.S I have extra filtration in there aswell, an underground filter, I know this is a bad idea now but hopefully I will be updating to a 6x2x2 within 6 months, where i will be adding a refigum(sp) an sump etc... This is more a gap fill untill then and also helps me with experience of which I had none before starting this one. Plus it cant hurt to have a lot of equipment for when I buy the bigger tank. I may just use the 4ft, split in 2 for the refrigum(sp) an sump.
