Nutrients, And Transition From Emersed To Submersed

Hi all, can you guys tell me some of my stem plants are going yellow at the very top, there is some nice new growth coming through which appear fine, also my hc is doing quite well but some of it is growing upwards and some are sending out runners are they lacking in nutrients maybe fe, or is it because they are adjusting to submersed growth regards john.

Hmm, unlikely to be deficiency if you are dosing EI. I find that new cuttings do a bit badly for a while and then suddenly pick up, I guess the same kind of goes for new plants which have been grown emerged. Many plants (like crypts) often shed their leaves when moved to a new tank, they will pick up after a while in most cases.

H.C. will grow upwards aswell as along the substrate, I did find it was inclined to do this in my tank when I had EcoComplete as it couldn't seem to root well enough in the larger grain size - maybe this was just me, but now I have gone for sand it roots really well and has stayed pretty low to the substrate. Once it gets long enough, push the upwards bits back into the substrate and see how it goes.
