has anyone used the nutrafin co2 Natural Plant System? I got one a week or so ago and am not having much luck. i put the sugar, activator and stabiliser into the canister with the luke warm water as per instructions but it never does anything. i've left it for a few days to give the yeast a chance to start but nothing. has anyone got one working?
I am trying again tonight with a fresh batch of yeast from from the supermarket incase the one in my kit has been on the shelf for a while. fingers crossed.

They usually take about a week to get up and running smoothly, never had a dead packet problem.

If you redo the yeast just leave it for a week and give it a chance

ok, i'll let it run now for a week or so and see what happens. Any idea what the stabiliser packet is or does?

i think the stabiliser is just baking soda not sure what it does though.

mine was running with in a few minutes of mixing it together.

Good link, thanks maestro. I haven't checked my water but i know its very hard so maybe the BOS is slowing things down. My latest attempt is without it so will see how it goes.

I've bought the exact same product and i have found to to been working effectively after 48 hours. Have you screwed the top on tightly to prevent gas escaping. I always put my cantister level with the tank im using it on i find that it helps the bubbles flow up the grid and not miss it.

Any help? How is it 2day?

yes the top is on tight. Even when taking it off after a couple of days there is no pressure at all. i didn't get a chance this morning to see if it started, but will take a look when i get home. Mine is lower down, its in the cabinet next to the filter.

Give it a shake. Not too much as that may cause the mix to go into the tank :)

If you can hear a bit of fizz it should bubble soon. All the best!

Hi Andy, I think having the cannister under the tank is your problem, I tried it there and had no luck like yourself, once I hung it on the back of the tank it was fine.

ok, i'll give it a few days where it is. if nothing I'll move it to the back of the tank.

its location wont stop it working, all of ours are under the tanks.

did you use warm water to make the mix?

It may have been too hot and killed the yeast.

it was warm, but not very. only a bit warmer than tank water.

hmm...

disconnect the pipe and cover the hole in the top of the grey container with your thumb (or finger :) )and give it a shake (hard). put it back upright and let it settle, then remove your digit.

If the mix is working you should get quite a bit of a hiss as the gas escapes.

if not, I'd try another mix :(

if it does, the mix is working. without attaching the bottle back up. put the disconnected end of jube in your mouth and blow air down it untill the air just starts to bubble up the diffuser. cover the end with your toung (while in your mouth) and watch the air in the tube. it should stay where it is. if it slowly rises then you have a leak somewhere in the tubing.

hope that helps...
