JUST PURCHACED SOME NURAFIN PLAT GRO TO KEEP MY PLANTS FULL OF LIFE. IT SAYS I SHOULD BUY AN IRON TEST KIT IS THIS REALLY NECASSARY OR SHOULD I BUY ONE AND IF I DID WHAT RANGE SHOULD I BE KEEPING MY AQUARIUM IRON LEVELS AT FROM WEEK TO WEEK ?
 
well truck i dosed it under what it said i dint wanna encourage exess algae or owt since i just got things right cycles over na too all levels have zerod out am after buying a dwarf plec this weekend nothing that grows too big upto about 4-5 inch price not a problem but somthing what will keep the little bit of small brown patces of algae i have at bay what ya reckon truck u got owt in mind pal?

the other thing truck is it dont say how often to add the plant fertilzer do ya think i should add it weekly ? or fortnighly ?
 
The nutrafin plant grow wont cause algae, the main causes of algae are excess light, lack of CO2, poor circulation and ammonia.

If you look on the back of the bottle does it say it contains NPK? (nitrate, phosphate or potassium.)
 
Ok, so they're mainly trace elements, so dose as per the manufacturers instructions, also it may be worth investing in some aqua nourish+ which is available from aqua essentials, what volume does your tank hold?

The aqua nourish+ will provide plants with the Macro elements (NPK) which are the main nutrients needed for the production of proteins resulting in growth.
