How many fish (REALLY) would you all be comfortable putting in a 3 gallon eclipse??? I really don't go by the 1 inch rule, so you all can be honest here. I am thinking just little cardinals and neons here, so you know which fish I am talkining about.........................

maybe a school of neons or some feeders crawfish shrimp
Well, I already have three in there, but I want more! How many maximum would you all think would still be safe??? :dunno:

I think 6 neons would be okay, as long as the water quality is kept perfect!

man.......I really need to calm down about this! I want more fish!!!
I guess I should have bought a 6 gallon, huh???? ;)

I guess I should have bought a 6 gallon

Yeah, yeah, and if you bought the 6 gallon you'd probably be saying "I guess I should have bought the 12 gallon"

Heck, a month after I bought the 90 gallon that I had dreamed of for so long I thought "Maybe I should have bought the 125". We're fish owners, never satisfied :D

Back on track... The way I stock all my tanks is by doing it gradually and paying attention to the water. I think you will be able to judge when enough is enough based on how crowded it is and on water quality. IMO You can keep 10 in it if you are sure your maintenance schedule and filters can keep up with the bio-load, hence the reason for stocking gradually - so you know when to cut it off.

I would say you have that tank overstocked as it is now. One fish is all I would put in that tank. Well acually I wouldn't have a tank that small. The smallest tank I have ever owned is a 10 gallon. It is just too hard to keep the water quality good in a tank that size. :)
Well, this originally started out as just a betta tank, but he looked lonely and big in there all by himself............so that is why it is so small. My first tank was a 55 gallon, so I guess I am regressing???

the betta seems to really enjoy the company.......so........that is how this all started.........

thanks cichlidaddict.................I was kinda thinking in that direction too..........the little fish seem to be magnified in this tank and I guess that is why I want more.......it was strange.....I had my neons in my 55 gallon, and someone was nipping at their tails....so I moved them to the small eclipse and somehow they look so much prettier in there..........don't know why, but they do.

And yes, I do agree with you..........we are never satisfied with the size of our tanks.........we always want bigger.........I guess we are the forever dreamers of the "perfect tank"

But let me get this straight - you have a betta, 3 neons, 2 guppies, and a loach in there?

DO NOT GIVE IN! you are fully stocked already.

And yes, you shoulda gotten the six gallon....*grin*

Olive, you can definitely add more. I had an iridescent shark, a three inch goldfish, and a two inch goldfish in my five for over three months until I did research. :*) (they all survived, I gave them away).

If you look at my sig, I've got lots of fish in my 5 gallon, and they've been in there for over a month. I do water changes twice a week and they're fine.

I saw you could get up to six neons (at most) if you do a few more water changes and don't feed them too much. I'm not sure if they eat algae, but if they do you can keep pollutants down by growing algae on rocks and placing them in as an alternative food source. :D

I would suggest going with shrimp or a frog instead, though, so you can get bottom feeders to clean up a bit and add activity to the bottom.

Well thanks for all of your input, this is exactly what I wanted, lots of opinions..............I am still not sure what I will do but I will let you know when I decide............I think I will watch the paramaters like a hawk and see what happens from there...........
