My HM male Nox has started tail biting... I hope after adding more plants to his section of the tank he stops but not sure...

My beautiful boy's tail was just starting to heal :(

Any tips for a tail biter? His tail doesn't look any worse today but it hasn't healed any more at all.

What size tank is he in?

Here's what I've heard suggested:
Adding some tankmates
Rearranging the decor
Putting a ping pong ball in the tank

Not sure what I can add, but I do hope he heals up and stops - he's got some fantastic fins :-(

The tank is 2.5ft long but is divided in half for him and another male who is fine.

I hope he stops too, really annoying me now as he has always been fine even after losing his babies due to the heater.

Can't really add any tank mates as eventually I will be dividing it into 4 sections for 4 males...

I'll try the ping pong ball :)

Will they actually play with or nip at the ball? My betta might be a tail biter...I've never caught him the act, but something had removed the top portion of his tail. There's nothing else in the tank that would do it, and he has plants (though I can move them). I'm just curious how exactly a ping pong ball would help.

Well it seems he wanted to breed again... I've started conditioned him and the female again and he's stopped! Cheeky little thing!
