Edit: Ok forget all that. floating, bloated, red nose, going to emergency section

:kana: So far all 20 of my shipped fish are doing well: 6 otos, 3 Orange BN, 11 hatchets.

One oto was laying on its side and back and would barely move when I prodded it Friday morning. I called the supplier and they gave me a refund. Then I considered what a member had posted about the little otos often being starved after shipping. So I pushed the little fellow over onto a piece of Hikari algae wafer. He started licking it after awhile.

Next I checked, two other otos were licking the wafer piece and had pushed the weak little guy off. So I netted him and placed him on another larger piece. Later he had moved away a bit but still laying on his side a bit. Next I checked him he was hanging onto the aquarium at the bottom w/his tail laying on the bottom. Next morning he was gone.

It has taken two days to finally get a really good count. He is up and running!

This is also a testamony to a quarantine tank. If I had put him in a heavily planted, decorated, or stocked tank I probably would have lost him--just the competition for food let alone the difficulty of tracking him.

I'm so happy and a little proud. :*) and I feel blessed to have found this TFF. I would not be doing as well with my pets without the interaction.

Edit: :( Sorry guys I over fed wrong food, and he went to fishy heaven

Congrats - its good to hear he's well. Big pat on the back to you.

I'm sorry folks. The little guy didn't make it. At least I guess it's the same one.

We think for now it was constipation. I fed him too much. I should have given him peas. Poor little one. Now I know: feed starving otos peas, the oto equivilant of chicken soup.

Well we hope it was constipation and not parasites.

Thanks for your good thoughts and well wishes. maroonostrich and Fiori.

I'm off to make some blanched, peeled, mashed peas.

Hey but I got an Amazon mother plant for consolation. :p

Aww I' sorry to hear the wee guy did'nt make it - at least you looked after him and nursed him as much as you could. :rip: little oto Hope the others are doing well.

Thanks, Fiori, you're kind.

Well I did the best I knew, but I think he could have made it if I had known more. I am just hoping the others are safe, and there's no bugger in the tank. It was too late to save him when I found him. Now I have to watch little oto butts. ;)

I did get extra otos in case I lost some. Guess I don't have to return the refund. Hope I don't have to ask for more refunds. :-(

I can't figure out how to do the peas. Mashed just float straight to the filter. I 've never understood how to keep stuff like that from floating away. Just a peeled pea goes straight to the bottom. I'm going to see if they will have a go at a nuked peeled whole pea.

On the bright side my new Amazon Sword is  and they dropped the price from $29 (around 16 British pounds) to $10 (about 5.50 Brit pounds).

Thanks again Fiori
