The tank has a small filter but as it is only 1g I leave it off as it produces too much current.I do regular water changes and am careful not to overfeed.None of my tanks use heaters as yet though I do have a couple.But the temp stays around 78 without them and as I have central air the room temp is pretty stable.In small tanks like mine the light alone actually provides a fair amount of heat.
