I recently purchased a second-hand tank with the intention of finally keeping Mbunas. The tank is an Aquaone Aquience Bow Front 1200b. It doesn't have a hood or lights and I'm having some problems deciding what to do to address that. At the moment I am using one of these but it doesn't quite fit and isn't in the best condition, either. As I plan to keep Mbuna (and don't ever see myself keeping plants in this tank), I want something that isn't too powerful. Something that is cheap and cheerful, and fits the tank would be nice. Does anyone have any ideas what my best bet would be?

I was in a rush when I made the first post, so left out some details:

I've come across this on ebay. Have any of you guys tried one of these? If so, what are they like? I'd definitely be up for paying a bit more to get a LED unit, but the main problem for me is I think I'm going to need a lid. My wife has two dumb cats that love to climb on top of fish tanks, you see! I've had a look online but I'm really struggling to find what I'm looking for. This Juwel unit that I'm using would be OK if it actually fit properly. I'm thinking maybe I should get a thick sheet of plywood cut to the size and shape I need, and then combine that with a cheap light unit.

Anyway, I figured I can't be the only person that has had this problem on here and thought I'd ask for some advice.

They're good for fish viewing but if your wanting live plants they're terrible.

I won't ever be doing live plants in this tank, so it won't matter. :)

I've just seen the ad in your sig for custom LED lighting. Do you reckon you might be able to help me out here? Is it just light units you do, or do you make lids, too? I wouldn't need a canopy or anything; just a sheet cut to shape to sit on top of my tank with the lights attached! If it makes it any easier to imagine: there is a border that protrudes around the top of the tank, so that a lid would sit in place.
