Hi there, wondering if i could get some help regarding my stress head betta, Gerome, his just a regular run of the mill blue veil tail i baight 2 years ago from a pet store while i was living interstate, he survived the 8 hour trip home in a plastic bag and everything!

up untill now Gerome has been living in 4l of water so 2 weeks ago i purchased a 40l jebo tank for him and got him some friends a few days after movign him across .. rams, probably not the best idea.. so his been in there for 2 weeks, a couple of days before i moved him across he'd split his tail right down the middle which then turned to fin rot, it had dropped off to as far down as the split i thought it was all over till today! he's split his tail again and the split ends quite close to his body, im worried aobut him now and im wondering if theres anytihng i can do for him to fix his poor tail without moving him from the tank. The tanks heavily planted, except every fish in the tank seems to like the one spot under the filter behind the big rock.

Other than the tank i dont really have any where to put him, his old home was taken over by a new un named resident that i could not resist yesterday, and unfortunately also left a nice dent in my pocket, but his beautiful orangey red and apparently a delta, but he looks more liek a super delta to me, and he has a clear end on his tail and underneath fin, my friend thinks he could be a butterfly delta?.. hmmm any ideas?

his tank mates are : 2 male rams that he frequently chases away from his favorate place, 1 female ram and 2 small bristle nose catfish which he just seems to ignore

PH 7, Hardness 120, nitrite 0-0.5ppm, ammonia 0-0.25ppm

The ammonia and nitrites in the tank indicate its cycling, which wont be doing any of the fish any good- anytime you see ammonia or nitrites in the tank do a 30% water change with dechlorinator to help lower them  .
Personally i would use an anti finrot med and some Melafix for the bettas tail although it might be impossible for the betta to get better in the tank with the rams in there as the 2 fish will not get along and the stress/fighting of them being together may only worsen the bettas condition- the tank is also really too small for the rams(and bristlenose plecs/catfish), so personally i would rehome the rams ASAP unless you get them a larger tank  . Do you have a 10litre bucket you can move the betta into for now at all or somthing similar? Bettas are some of the few tropical fish that can live and thrive without tank filtration, unlike the rams and bristlenose, it will help aid the bettas recovery if you put him in a tub/tank that has little or no filtration as it will help take some of the strain of his heavy tail.
