Normal Growth Or Algae

Hope someone can give me some advice. I have a lightly planted tank and still going through the fishless cycle (seems like forever). My Amazon swords, although they have little shoots growing from the tops of them they also have what appears to be brown whiskers growing from them aswell (drooping down about an inch). Also my Elodea Densa although growing rapidly has thin, green, hair like strands growing out from the sides (About 3/4 of the way up the stems). Is this normal growth or is this an algae or something to worry about, thanks in advance for any advice, Alan

sounds like a couple of different types of algae that are growing on the leaves. Aaron north has a link in his signature that tells you about different alga.
