Well, after a really hard day, the best way to finish it was to try cleaning my sw tank, only to find the scrubber somehow got sand in the outside scrubber. scatched my 2 week old, 12 gallon, $129 fish tank. Please tell me it can be fixed.. If so, where, and how much $$?

Thanks guys..

ok thanks a ton, so happy to hear it can be fixed. isn't there some type of polish that can be bought many other places thats cheaper?

This is the only kit that will actually make your tank look like new. It is a good investment if you are keeping acrylic tanks around.

This kit can make old beat up kritter-keepers look like new.

Lucky it's outside. Try a little white toothpaste with a couple drops of water and rub it on the scratch in circles with your thumb. Fine scratches can be removed with toothpaste... hope it works for you.

they are very fine, im probably the only one who can see 'em. Someone at my lfs said clear nail polish would work? He didnt seem to know much, so im double checking

No, I would definately not put on any nail polish. Adding any enamel would make it worse and highlight it instead, I think... and then if you wanted to remove the nail polish, be careful that the stuff you use to remove it doesn't blemish or fog the acrylic. Some of those paint removers do melt plastic.

Personally, do not use any chemical that is just out there. Make sure that it says "acrylic-safe" on it. I learned the hard way. I only use glass now.

so that kit's the only way to go?

I tried the toothpaste thjing last night, but nothing at all happened. however it was that hotel toothpaste if that means anything

Autosol works a treat its for polishing chrome on cars but works well on acrylic, you could also try brown sauce as daft as it sounds its great for polishing.

another thing you could try is the polishing kits for fibre optics

only use these on the outside

I have been using autosol quite a bit as im trying to get the hang of making stuff from acrylic and i can get it polished from sawn using 600 wet/dry and autosol.

brown sause is an old car trick milder than autosol

The fibre optics kit i use on fibre optics is really good as you can imagine i have to get the ends like glass for good data comms.

you can use an old cd case if you want to try these first all you are doing is polishing plastic.

keep away from nail polish you could end up in a right mess !
