I have an Aqua One 620 tank which has an inbuilt filter and pump. I've found the water return to be very noisy, and as the tank is in my room it makes it hard to sleep!

Currently, I've put a bit of plastic to break the hard 'water fall', but I'm wondering if anyone has any other suggestions? The plastic has reduced the noise somewhat, but it'd be nice if it was just a little quieter.

Also, will filling up the tank to the brim make it less noisy as the water doesn't have to drop as far down?

Hope I've made some sense!

If the noise you are hearing is the water falling, then having it drop less, or running it down some plastic or similar will make it less noisy.

If the noise is from the pump, it is worth checking to see that the pump is correctly set-up, that there are no bubbles in it etc., I am not familiar with that make so can't be precise.

Ultimately, you can take the internal filter out and replace it with an external canister. My Eheims are silent.
