Noisy Filter System

Hi im new to all this just set up my first tropical tank on saturday in my bedroom. The filter system is driving me mad its a continuous loud hum.
CAN ANYONE HELP
i don't no if it may be my set up although i followed instructions or that maybe its a faulty system.

Many filters do have a small "bedding in period", after a while some get quieter. Also, on internal systems, vibrations running through you're tank can be to blame, as they can make the hum louder on the surface the tank is resting on. Many people use polystyrene under the tank to reduce noise.

Thanks i wil give that a try. While on the subject as the tank is in my bedroom which kind of system do you think would be the quietest?.

which type of filter are we talking about?
maybe an airblock if its an exsternal??if yes give it a shake and lift it to a 45degree angel
