Today I have just set up a Fluval Edge aquarium. Although it is a great looking little tank the noise from the filter is driving me crazy. Does anybody have any suggestions on how to make quieter. I have tried it without lid (a little quieter) and also tried fixing the white impeller to the magnet more tightly neither of which has helped. Hope somebody has an answer. Thanks, Greenbeemer

Make sure that the uplift pipe is connected correctly, if its not pushed into the top of the impeller housing right it suck air through.

Make sure it's central between the lighting unit, mine vibrated if it was touching.
Probably a daft question, but did you fill the filter with water before running it for the first time?

Yes I did. I followed instructions to the letter

I knew it was a daft question, but had to ask.
You may find it quietens down once it's been running a while, mine was a bit noisy to start with.

Hi there. have tried your suggestion today and it does seem to have made a great difference.I used Servisol silicone grease which I purchased through Amazon. thanks for your help.

No problem glad I could help, you do have to do it every month or so because it isn't a permanent fix but it gives you a chance to see if the impeller or any gaskets are worn before they cause problems.
