The bipolar state. Take a stab at it.
As the title says. It's so incredibly noisy, it mainly sounds like a mechanical issue. I've taken everything apart, cleaned it out, it's still there. Nothing is loose, again I've swabbed down everything, and I'm going insane. It does sound like something is loose in there, but...nothing. Any suggestions at all, I'll try them. Much appreciated.

If the worst comes, I'll just make my own sponge filter. Always wanted to try it out, anyway.

could be some trapped air.

whilst it is running shake it a bit and it might dislodge it.

Oh that's new. Haven't heard that. I'll have to try that once I find vaseline, doubt I have some in the house. In the meanwhile, I'd still love tips.

Anyways, is the vaseline okay for the fish?

Should be, if it's safe to slather all over your lips it shouldn't pose a threat to the fish.

It's a HOB, isn't it? Really the only thing that it could be is the impellor, they don't exactly have moving parts. Maybe if you watch the impellor while the filter is going you might get a better idea of what's causing it, like it could be out of alignment or a bit of extra plastic getting caught or something.

Yeah, i thought that too. I don't exactly know how to "watch it." I did look at it, but by eye, I didn't see anything wrong.

Also in your opinion, would it be better to just make my own sponge filter? Wanted to try it. If not, I'll just work harder on this HOB.
