How do I get the BN to come out during the day (besides feeding it then)

If they haven't been in the tank long, it's normal for them to be shy.

You could weight down come cucumber, mine can't resist it.

They have been in the tank for a two months now, how long would I expect for them to turn less timid?

edit: I did try the cucumber thing, I weighted it down w/ gravel. They have not touched it (and it has been sitting over night)

I think you were supposed to weigh it down with a veggie clip.

Im sure its fine, I just wieghed it down by stuffing a piece of gravel in it
