I lost my anablep anablep today :-( He was fine when I got back from work but when I went to feed them, he was all caught up in a plant that had reached the top of the water. He used to rest on it, but today he got caught in it and I was too late to save him

Sorry to hear about that gad. Silly question, how on earth did it get caught, fish are usually quite adept at squirming through plants.

Dragon, if you look at the pics I've posted of my community tank, in the middle there's a tall plant (pic taken after pruning) This was covering most of the surface (my fault - I thought it looked good and didn't realise poor anablep anablep would get caught in it :-( ) and that's how it happened  . I feel like a murderer :-( :-(

i'm sorry about your loss gad. your not a murder. stuff happens. if anything it will be a good lesson learned to keep you plants trimmed a bit. :(

Don't feel bad Gad, its no worse than us losing all 3 of our clown loaches yesterday to a piece of fake wood decor. Apparently when going in to hide they got stuck and injured themselves trying to get out. The decor is no more, its been replaced with a flowerpot now, not as pretty but much safer!

You lost all three, Playful, really? How terrible! And Gadazobe's poor fish got tangled in a plant??? Gosh, it makes you wonder how these fishies ever survive in the wild at all -- so much more to contend with, there, with weather and natural fluctuations in the environment, pollution, etc. No wonder they have to have so many babies! :S
My condolences, all around. :(
