Hi'Is it right that you don't feed your fish for 1 day in a week only babies Thanks.Mark

if its only one day, you will be absolutly fine. fish can go for a week w/o eating sometimes longer

None of mine get fed on Wednesday or Saturday. They all do very well and get fed plenty the rest of the time. I found that it's helped reduce waste from uneaten food, the fish seem healthier and happier, and they cope better if I have to go away for a few days. For holidays I have someone trustworthy come in and feed them at least twice during the week.

P.S:When I specifically bred fish I made sure the fry were fed every day, twice in the early days. The babes we get now manage on the adult routine very well (that's fry born without my prior intervention). I've found this mthod so successful that I've had syno breeding successfully in the tank and had two grow up beautifully without any inteference from me.

Mine get fed every day and twice a day when I am home on the weekends. The important thing to do is to avoid overfeeding the fish. For some people it is easier not to be quite as careful and just let the hungry fish clean up the excess on a day a week. In the wild, fish are opportunistic feeders. If the food is abundant, they eat a whole lot but if it is not they can survive a while with no food. I feel it is better for them to have a reasonable, not generous, amount of food all the time than to cycle their available food supplies. Obviously, there are many who do not agree with me on that.

Hi' Thanks for your reply and advice with feeding fish.Mark
