I can't believe it!, checked the ammonia last night and it had dropped quite a bit....today I checked it and there was ZERO, nitrates are up @ 40 and nitrites slightly up @ .5..........pH is still very low@ 6.2.
and it is pretty smelly, but still clear as a bell....
Should I use pH up, or just leave it alone?
All I have in the 55 gal tank is 5 corys and 7 guppies, and 1 rubber lip pleco.

can anyone guess where I am in the cycle process?

I took 1 sick guppy out of the tank the other day, that had a white patch on it, and I have seen no other signs of illness.....could I have done away with the illness by removing the one fish?

You still have nitrites, so the cycle hasn't finished yet. Leave be until the cycle has finished (zero ammonia and zero nitrItes), then, post ur water results (ph, kh, gh) and we can advise you on the rest.. I personnaly do not use ph adjusters if i can help it...
