I'm not sure that this would be considered an emergency, but my nitrites have been around 1.0 for the last few days. I've been treating for ick for about a week or so and will continue treating for a few more days. How long can fish tolerate this level of nitrite? My ammonia is almost 0. My tank has been running for a month now, but I don't think it's fully cycled yet. Do you think the ick med (Quick cure) has slowed down my cycle? I've also been doing 25% water changes every other day to control the nitrites. I have a 10 gal with 3 danios and 2 Blue Rams. Any advise would be appreciated.

Thanks

Do you mean 01 reading in nitrite or 1 that's quite high on the chart.

I would do a water change every day and see how that affects the levels, also cut down on feeding to reduce the amount of Ammonia being produced. If you can get it to under 0.5ppm. Your Danios should be fine with it, not sure the Rams will like it much though.

I'll keep up with the water changes. My Danios are pretty tough little guys. The Rams seem fine now, but I'm a little worried about them. They need really good water quality. I haven't been feeding them very much lately. How little can I get by when it comes to feeding? I don't want to starve them. Do you think the Quick cure is screwing up the bacteria?

What is quick cure never used it.

What does it say in your instructions, I think it would knock it slightly but not much, tanks can take up to 7 to 8 weeks to cycle it depends , water changes slow it down but I would say you have another 2 weeks maybe less it depends.

It doesn't say anything. I think your right, I'm not cycled yet, and the medication probably isn't helping. More water changes!

What types of fish do you have in your tank???That qiuck cure is very harsh on the scaless fish it causes a lot of stress.
