I just tested my water and I have a nitrite problem. I am now doing 25% water changes daily, as advised by cat.fish I was just wondering if anyone knew of a chemical or something that would help with my nitrite problem. I'll test my water every few days and see how it's doing. I have 6 Danios in it and it is a 10 gallon.

I was advised by people on here and my LFS as i had same problem till a day ago to do water changes everyday, i was doing 30% but i upped it to 80% and a few days later the nitrite had lowered and today its at zero so fingers crossed for now!

I only did one 80% water change and it took level right down and it stayed down i also continued with my 25% water changes for two days after as well and the levels low now, hopefully it will saty that way!

I did about a 50% water change, waited about 15 min. and then tested my water. My nitrite is still high, but significantly lower, tom. I will do another 50% and then I will test abt an hour or so after. if necessary I will do more changes. does anyone see anything wrong with my plan?

Hi daniodude :)

How did the water changes work out for you? If the nitrites have gone down, be sure to do frequent enough water changes to keep it there. If you are concerned about your beneficial bacteria, they will catch up to the demand for them, but slowly. This is more work for you, but better for the fish in the long run. :D
