Hi,
Just tested my freshwater tank, nitrites and ammonia are at 0, but nitrates are at 100mg/litre. (thats the highest the chart went-but the water was very red) I only started the tank today so no point in water change. Is this dangerous to the fish? Got lots of conflicting information.

I will guess that you do not do a partial water change very often. Unless there is a lot of nitrates in your tap water a water change will reduce the nitrates. Nitrates are the end product of the nitrogen cycle. Unless you remove them they will continue to accumulate. Don T.

Ive got an Interpet kit, where you add tablets to 5/10ml water. Is this kit any good? I know its prob not as good as some, but cant really afford anything else at the moment!

it's OK to question the test results but there is the possability that they are correct. If they are correct you need to do more water changes. Don T.
