Nitrate Levels

Hello, just done a water test on my goldfish tank and the nitrate level are high. Around 80ppm. How can I bring this down? Is is normal for a new tank?

Water changes are really the only way to reduce nitrates, a 50% water change will reduce the nitrates to 40ppm or a 75% water change will reduce them to 20ppm.

Regular weekly water changes will keep nitrate levels under control.
