I'm new in the fish business, but I like to do my research...I learned that the hard way! I bought a 1.77 gallon plastic tank for a couple of goldfish. Not long after, I got a 29 gallon tank so they could actually survive, as well as adequate filters and various other goodies. Since the tank is much bigger, I decided to add a black moore and a group of 4 zebra danios. The guy at the petshop mistakenly gave me 3 zebra danios and a leopard danio. At first the leopard danio hid at the top and seemed miserable and we were going to take him back, but by the next day he was playing and enjoying the company of the zebra danios. He was cute, so we kept him.
Meanwhile, I had purchased four orange tetras to occupy the small, small, very small tank. Bad idea. Within 4-5 days one died. Sooo...I moved the tetras over to the thriving 29 gallon tank, where everyone seemed happy and the water was staying clean. They seemed thrilled. But...
Now the Leopard Danio is constantly antagonizing them. Nip, Nip Nip! The zebra danios join in sometimes, too, but none are as aggresive as that leopard danio.
I feel terrible for the little tetras. Is there anything I can do? If not, I guess that leopard danio will have to go
Thanks!
Denise
