I don't know if this behaviour is normal or not with neons? Over the past week or so they have been very nippy, i had 4 in the tank and it was suggested that it was perhaps because they needed 6+ in the tank as they are schooling fish, i upped them to 10 yesterday but the 4 bigger ones still seem to be nipping at eachother. I thought they were supposed to be really placid? I don't spose it could be a learned behaviour from living with guppy's? lol Or mating ritual? Any suggestions? x

looks to me like they are establishing a pecking order i wouldnt worry too much
Yes this is honestly quite common. This 'pecking order' is found in many fish, like female Bettas. As long as there's no visible wounds there's nothing to worry about. Just watch them closely to make sure they don't get too aggressive.

Okie, thanks! Seems strange that this has just started happening but that's nature. the biggest one is normally involved lol!
