ok ok. hers my plan, i have $30 and i want to buy a new 10 gallon tank with metal wire lid, and a small heater to go in my 5 gallon, that way for christmas i will get a heater for the new 10 and a new filter. or should i buy a heater for the 10 gravel vacuum, some apple snails and some neons. or do you think i should just blow the whole thing off and ask for all that for christmas and just buy a camera so i can show off my tank's? be honist! thank you guy's and gal's. sorry if this is long. :shifty:

well....
that's a lot of choices :S , but imo if you need a gravel vac & a heater then that should be top priority, you'll always be able to get neons someday but apple snails are pretty cool, and maybe you'll get (ask for ;) ) a 10 gallon KIT for Christmas and it will come with a heater/filter/lid included

Why the metal wire lid for the 10? Just curious

But on the other hand....if you bargain shop...you MIGHT have enough cash to get a heater for your 5 AND a cam right now ;)

thanks for your repley, the reason is becaus in was going to make a trennarien out of it and place by a window. i think i'll buy a background, heater, and apple snails, or a camera and background. i'll make my mind up some day.

Those wire mesh covers are handy things to have. :)

I use one on my frog tank to keep them from jumping out. :look:

I also have one on one of the tanks with my cory fry. You have to use a box filter with them since it must be inside the tank, and the lid holds it suspended at the top of the tank where the fry aren't as likely to get sucked into it while they are small. It works well for this purpose.

I got my first one as part of a tank set-up I bought at a yard sale. It's a cheap replacement for a broken cover and the light can set right on top of it.

ohhhh gitcha zak, I was under the impression it was going to be afish tank...that's why I suggested the kit ;)

Inchworm~ I LOVE yard sales, I hardly ever stop at them...I just cruise by looking for tanks, stands etc but today I stopped at one and got an awesome shelf unit to move a lot of my betta tanks over too  I managed to fit 12 betta on it and clear off one of my kitchen counters and my desk top (and a few off my dresser  ) :kana:

Hi A.K.A. Zak :)

I think you're ready to move up to a 20 gallon tank (at least). Why not ask for that? At Christmas, all things are possible!

Hi A.K.A. Zak :)

Your mom must be convinced that you are responsible and know enough about fishkeeping to succeed with that large a tank!

You've learned a lot in the short time you've been on the forum, A.K.A. Zak, and I know you will do well with it. :D Have you thought about what fish will go into it?

_______
P.S. Be sure to save enough money to buy your mom a REALLY NICE present!

i was doing a lot of reading on the snowflake moray eel, and read that they need atleast a 30 gallon tank. so when i get the 30 i will head down to jacks aquarium store and pic the eel up after the tank cycled, ofcourse i'll have no other fich in there and will have it set up like this. black sand, 30 gallon bio, 50-75 watt heater, bubble wand with pump, big rock deco. with lots and lots of holes, and mabey a fake plant or two.
