Hi,

Im getting a fire belly newts...

1.Is a 10 gal tank enuff for 1 5cm newt??

Ill put i huge rock for him to climb on and some java fern and gravel as a base...I heard that they climb up tank walls and i am gonna put a acrylic divider on top of it( the square ones(the onli thing i can find)).

2.Will it be strong enuff to push it open??

Im putting most of my fish food on the cover.....I heard that u need gloves to handle them....

3.how am i suppose to change the water when we are not suppose to touch them????

10 gal should be fine for a firebelly newt.

They can jump/climb out of tanks and disappear, happend to a freind of mine, so good think you will keep it covered, securly covered.

To change water catch them and put them in a holding tank. for small water changes just scoop out the water and put new water in, newts still in there.

I wouldnt worry too much about the toxcity of their skin. let me find an article for you on newt toxicty...

just make sure there are no gaps in the corners and it will be fine, just dont fill the water all teh way up to the top of the tank
