Hi folks,

I've jsut signed up and need your expert help!!!

I bought a new angel fish on Sunday and by last night half of his pectoral, tail and (excluse my ignorance) top and bottom fins have been nibbled. He is now wobbling around a bit. I watched and oneo f my mollied nipped his fins then the other angel (slighly bigger) went for him full pelt on the side. HE started shaking like he was having a fit!!!

What should I do? put him out of his mysery or see what hapens? It's soooo disressing - I keep shouting at the other angel but I'm sure he doesn't understand!

Also.................

I have have noticed some fish doing a bit of rubbing, not sitting rubbing but just gonig up to a rock and quick flick against it then off again - this has been happening to a cichlid, gourami and guppy - is tht normal??

My PH is high but I have stated to put some stuff in for it (pls don't ask me what) but my no2, no3 seem fine

A bit long winded I know - sorry - HELP!!!!

Angels are cichlids and territorial. It would be best to remove the new angel to a QT tank and let it recover. After that, rearrange your tank decorations when you introduce it to the main tank. This will create new territories for them.

The rubbing against rocks could be a sign of bacterial infection. Keep a close eye on them. I would up the temp in the tank to around 80 if its not there already. If you begin to see slugishness, white spots, discolored body or fins, or if they stop eating, it may be time to look into treating the tank. HTH

:hi: to the forum - when you get the chance, introduce yourself in the newbie section. :D
impur has given you some great advice - if the fish is already injured I very much doubt that his tank mates are going to let him get much rest - do you have another tank that you can place him in till he recovers?
