Lis! You've definitely come to the right place if you want to do lots of research first.

There's a newbie forum you should check out as it has lots of helpful advice and tips about cycling your tank before getting fish etc. Plus I'm sure everyone will be more than happy to make some suggestions for your first fish!

Hi cheekypigs, welcome to the forum My wife use to keep guinea a pig too. She had a well trained angora that was jet black. It was a beautiful pet.

You are to be commended for doing your research first. Too many people just buy the tank and fish and then run into all sorts of problems. I would suggest you read the pinned topics at the top of each section (also the link in my signature on fishless cycling). And ask all the questions you want. As already mentioned, there are a lot of very knowledgable people here and they are more than happy to help you.
