im setting up a 10 gallon coldwater tank...i'm interested in cloud minnows and was wondering how many can i fit into a 10 gallon comfortably?

also could I add a small goldfish to that?

hmm...ok...well i have a friend that breeds goldfish and if i was to take one and put it in my 10 gallon to start...what if i moved him to my 20 gallon after a while?

That's not the stocking levels I've been advised about fancy goldies from a professional breeder...1 fish = a minimum 20 gallons and every other fish a further 10 gallons each (minimum) in a well filtered tank with weekly 50% water changes.

Obviously, the more water you give per fish the better, but a 20 gallon tank would be fine for just one fish imho with good external filtration.

If you had a 20 gallon tank then it would be best to put the goldie straight in there rather than in a small 10 gallon to start off :)

I wouldnt put any goldfish in a 20 gallon personally, they make massive amounts of mess and need plenty of space. I would say 30 minimum. I keep all of my goldfish in ponds because they need such a large space.
You would also need very good filtration to keep water conditions stable.

I would go for the WCMM
